Putu Wijaya a well known poet from Indonesia having national and international recognition, was commemorating the death of WS.Rendra, another distinguished poet, by performing a monolog. Held on 23 November 2009 at Balai Pertiwi multi-function hall, the monolog was performed in collaboration with Ma Chung University Drama Circle. This performace was  flooded by drama  community, teachers, and students. Audience were stunned by the theatrical performance shown by PutuWijaya and his Mandiri Theater Club.

In this performance Putu Wijaya wants to focus on government’s policy on education, freedom, and day to day problems faced by the common society. As a tribute to W.S Rendra,a.k.a the Peacock,  this performance was  entitled Burung Merak (Peacock). Putu used bird in the cage, and a giant rag doll to symbolize society who did not get their freedom to express their views.
