Many of you may think that learning Chinese is very difficult, so you are lazy to study or ignore this subject. However, Chinese is very important now and becomes a global language. As we all know, right now in Ma Chung University we have a lot of clubs like English Speaking Club, Basketball Club, etc. According to the request from students, we strongly recommend a brand new club for you——Chinese Corner (Chinese Club).

Chinese Corner is held by Management Study Program and this club is established on 30th October 2009. The series of activities started with Welcoming Party of Chinese Corner.  On this occasion we presented many performances, like dancing, poetry reading, singing, Gongfu etc. The opening ceremony was so successful that was even reported by the Newspaper agency in Surabaya. After that, we continued all our various activities on campus. Firstly, we talked about our life in Ma Chung and our Hobby. The following week we talked about Chinese poem “Jing Ye Si”, which is written by a famous poet. Until today we also learned about how to read the poems in the right intonation, which is very difficult for the beginners. And then after learning poem, in the following week we learned a lot about Chinese Culture, Chinese traditional food, Chinese dancing, modern development, to name just a few.

In Chinese Corner we learn more about China. The difference in learning in Chinese Corner club in and out class is that we will get a lot of experience from conversations and language practice. We learned a great number of new vocabulary and culture information in every meeting. In this club we are forced to improve our ability. We must try to speak, because fluently speaking in Chinese is our common goal. At first, we discussed about simple things like our hobby, life in Ma Chung University, self-introduction in front of our friends etc. Day after day we can be aware of the improvement of our skills and ability in speaking and understanding Chinese. This is the wonderful feeling we’ve never had.

Overall, we want to develop our club with every one of you in the future. To our delight, Calligraphy is also put in the next semester. As we all know that Caligraphy is very interesting subject for us to learn on how to write Chinese Character beautifully. Besides, we also arrange lots of  diverting activities, such as drama, singing competition and the speaking context in the next semester. You will never regret to make a wise decision to join us.
