Ma Chung University Hosts SAS (Scholarship Administration System) Training PDF Print E-mail

ImageMarch 20, 2008 marks the umpteenth time Ma Chung University collaborates with an overseas institution. This time it is a Dutch institution, Van Deventer Maas-Stichting, that conducted a training on how to fill out scholarship form on line, called Scholarship Administration System or SAS.  Ma Chung University  was only too pleased to play host to the event.

Van Deventer Maas-Stichting is a foundation whose headquarters is in The Netherlands. It manages financial aids for universities in Indonesia. Included in the funding are funds to undertake projects to increase and improve the development of Indonesian education in general as well as scholarships for bright Indonesian students. Complete information on Van Deventer Foundation is available from http://www.vandeventermaas.org.

An Deventer training program invited 27 representatives from universities all over Indonesia. They were trained on how to correctly and accurately enter the data as required of prospective students who are potential scholarship recipients from Van Deventer Foundation. The Director of Van Deventer, Mr. Edwin Kisman, M.Sc., explained about the training.

uring the training, in addition to vital information on Van Deventer website, self-test facility available from the website was also demonstrated. Based on the answers to the questions in the self-test, it can be identified whether the students concerned really deserve Van Deventer scholarship.
Employing Ma Chung University’s sophisticated computer system in Ole Johan Dahl Computer Laboratory, with 2 Mbps bandwith internet connection, all the workshop participants could access SAS website in seconds. In less than two hours, the data of all scholarships candidates were successfully entered into the SAS system – thanks to Mr. Jaap Van De Putte and Mr. David Mathei who trained them.

umptuous dinner was served in the farewell party where all the participants felt the warmth and camaraderie during the workshop.
